Salvage and Dismantling

  Return to Reuse Group

Salvage refers to the separation of selected items from the junk stream that are potentially reusable. By separating or dismantling usable items into basic components or parts you can accumulate a secondhand inventory.

Some items may be sorted and identified for immediate sale as a secondhand item ready for reuse, other items may be feedstocks as cores or casing for the refurbishing industry.

The Nuts and Bolts of Salvage
Some items may be dismantled or stripped down to the most basic components such as nuts, bolts and screws. There exists a market for the simplest of items such as pieces of metal, plastic, wood, textiles if they are accumulated into similar size and shape.
